On New Jersey Channel 12 (a news channel reaching Cablevision customers in Raritan area) the Republicans ran a commercial that began with a family of 4 in the kitchen saying how they have trouble having ends meet, living paycheck to paycheck. Then there was a segue to how valuable they would find a middle class tax cut and a closing of loopholes and a fairer tax system. Followed by Congressman Leonard Lance (R) saying how he is working to make these tax cuts happen. In a commercial that reached several districts with Democratic incumbents.
The counter to such an ad is to point out how little middle class families have benefited each time the Repubs have cut taxes, and how much services have been cut. For example cutting music classes in schools, cutting school lunches, etc. To point out how Republican tax cuts have benefited the wealthy and not the middle class. To point out the shell game where an income tax cut is matched by raises in other taxes.
By the way, stating the obvious, it’s much easier to keep a record of print advertising than it is of radio or TV ads, which are hard to keep track of without continual recording and monitoring. This is a real resource hog.
